Coach Travis Divita

creatorsbasketball@yahoo.com

Coach Travis Divita has been coaching youth basketball from ages 6-17 for the last 10 years from Oahu, Hawaii to here in Santa Clarita, California. He is currently the Head Coach for Legacy Christian Academy, US Basketball University, and is the director of Creators Basketball. Coach Divita is passionate and driven to help the youth chase their hoop dreams by giving guidance along their journey. Having been a combo guard in his own basketball background, he obtains the knowledge and skill of a point guard with a very high level shooting ability.

Having attended and played at The Master's University in Santa Clarita, Coach Travis Divita studied kinesiology with physical therapy as his emphasis and held a Certified Personal Training Certification by the National Academy of Sports Medicine (CPT-NASM). He also went on to play 3x3 with Coaches Taylor Statham and Alec Berryman where they became a top 15 team in the Nation.

"The ultimate goal is to guide these kids as they grow and become men and women. The idea is to teach them to be professional about how they approach the craft that they are passionate about and utilize it most efficiently. We want our players to understand that being professional means more than making it to the NBA. Being professional, for them, means striving for straight A's in school, being a good person, being a positive leader around their friends, getting shots up everyday, performing exercises not only to get stronger, faster, quicker, etc., but to address their movement mechanics to enhance the way that they move in order to prevent injury while also making them more athletic. Being professional is a way of life and here at Creators Basketball, we want to create professional mindsets in our players."

Head Coach

Coach Ronald Harris

coachronaldharris@gmail.com

Coach Ron Harris began coaching in 2015 following the end of his basketball career by returning to his Alma Mater Saugus High School. Following his time there, he began coaching AAU basketball for a few different programs before becoming a Boys’ Freshmen Coach. He is now a Girls Varsity Assistant at Valencia. Coach Ron joins us with a passion to encourage, motivate, and challenge players to be better on and off the court by bringing energy and intensity to every practice, with his team oriented mentality.

Coach Ron is a greater Los Angeles Native who relocated to the Santa Clarita Valley his sophomore year of HS and played Varsity Basketball at Saugus High School, 2 years of JuCo Basketball at College of the Canyons, and 2 years at Greenville University.

“The game of basketball is simple yet so complex. As coaches when we break down the complexities of basketball into pieces of a much larger puzzle, players learn to plug those pieces into the appropriate places at the appropriate time. Much like using skills learned in school that are used in the daily concepts of math, reading, spelling, and comprehending. Sharing knowledge and pushing players to get outside of their comfort zone mentally and physically will give them the tools needed to endure and persevere curveballs on and off the court.”

Coach Taylor Statham started his coaching career while playing at California State University- San Bernardino. He currently is a professional basketball player and co-owner/ co-operator of Ball Out Incorporated. While playing pro ball in Canada, Philippines, China, Thailand, Hong Kong, and Indonesia, he's won numerous championships, MVP awards, Best Small Forward of the Conference, and been invited to private workouts with a handful of NBA G League teams.

Having grown up in a town predominately based around football and baseball, Coach Statham has made it his goal to change the culture of basketball in the Santa Clarita Valley. Each summer he's helped many players get exposure and offered college scholarships who previously weren't being recruited. Through Ball Out he's been able to direct the Elite 50 Showcase, SCV Alumni Tournament, Ball Out's Pro All Star Game, and a handful of camps locally and internationally. Playing positions 1-4 at the highest level allows coach to breakdown each individual player's skill set and help develop them in the most effective way.

"Every player is different, but what every player needs is an amazing work ethic and fundamentals. Basketball is an intense game, so we train players to play off of instinct. We push them physically, but most importantly help them grow mentally. We focus on mindset, on and off the court, because these lessons you learn through this amazing game carry over to everyday occurrences."

Head Coach

Coach Sam Bauer

Bauerbasketball@gmail.com

Sam Bauer was born in South Bend, Indiana but grew up in the Santa Clarita area after moving here at a young age. Growing up, he was a multi sport athlete and played basketball, football, and baseball. During High School he actually decided to step away from organized sports and focused on competitive skateboarding. However, at the age of 18 he had a late growth spurt and grew 6 inches in less than a year. After growing to a height of 6’6”, he gravitated back to the game of basketball.

This led to ambitions of competing at the collegiate level so he began training everyday to make this a reality. Through a connection, he was invited to summer workouts at a Los Angeles Valley College and impressed the coaches enough to give him a chance to make the team. He played 2 years for LAVC and even made several starts for the Monarchs. After JUCO he signed a scholarship to play basketball for Trinity International University in Chicago, Illinois. TIU was a nationally ranked NAIA program, and provided him the opportunity to play in the NAIA National Tournament in 2018.

Sam is now coaching for multiple basketball programs within Santa Clarita. He coaches for Statham Academy and Creators Basketball. His experience overcoming the odds and becoming a college basketball player with zero high school experience provides a unique story. He not only preaches to our young athletes that with heavy ambition and hard work, you can accomplish the things you desire, but-- he is a walking example of it.
